It was built by Abdul Rahman Bin Samareh in first Hijri century. Hassan Basari who was one of the clergies of Sistan, had taught in this mosque for many years. Hence, this mosque had been used as seminary also. It had been primarily a Jom’e mosque before. The location of the mentioned mosque was in front of Zaranj Jail. Moghad’dasi had written about Zaranj:
‘’ There is a jam’e mosque in this city opposite of the Jail. It is very attractive specially, because of its minarets which one of them is covered by copper! And is built by Yaghoub Leis Saffari’’
